Since the release of their first collaboration, TREASURE, David Helpling and Jon Jenkins have spent the past two years in the depths of deep exile carefully crafting a new recording and they are now ready to resurface with "THE CROSSING".  With his latest collaboration, Helpling and Jenkins embark on a fresh sonic expedition - a cinematic, powerful and deeply melodic triumph that lifts their music to new heights.

More than just a follow up to TREASURE, THE CROSSING is a climb, a challange and most of all a continuation of the journey; a deliberate sequel that launches from the very place that TREASURE so gently released teh listener three years earlier.  Jenkins explains, "We wanted to take all of the ingredients that make a great movie or book sequel - more action, more intensity, and somewhat darker with more daunting challenges - and express them through the music on this record."

According to Helpling, "THE CROSSING is a title with more than one meaning.  Not only is it a metaphorical representation of an arduous and inspired journey across an unfathomable hardship and distance, but it is also a crossing of two paths of two currents: the result of which is complex and beautiful as well as powerful and intangible."

THE CROSSING is a project that ignores current trends in ambient and electronic music, and Helpling and Jenkins are fearless in their pursuit of the lush and monumental sound that dominates their artistic vision.  All the essentials for an epic journey are here: compelling and expansive multi-layered drum elements contrasted by alluring yet elusive textures, strong melodies appearing over powerful percussion, synths and guitars, all of which give way to vast spaces of deep and mystifying ambience.  From grand melodic vistas to enveloping sonic clouds of textural mystery, THE CROSSING leads the listener to the ends of the earth... and beyond.

In 1993, Lorrie Sarafin heard her first Native American Flute. In 1996, she bought her first Native American Flute and took it out into the Sonoran Desert to learn how to play. She is fond of saying it is the desert that taught her how to play the flute.

Sarafin has also volunteered her time to play for  patients at Scottsdale Healthcare’s Osborn campus in an effort to promote healing.

Musical influences range from Opera to Big Band; from country to oldies - music of all sorts has contributed to Sarafin's growth. However, the desire to create washes of ambience using synthesizer and world percussion caught Lorrie's attention in early 2003 - and thus began her journey to create music which would relax, soothe and heal.

"All of the songs on 'Second Wind' are personal and reflect things I have experienced," says Sarafin. 'Bobbi (Canyon Sunrise)' is to honor my best friend from high school, Bobbi Planz,  who passed away from ovarian cancer in December of 2004. 'Ceremony' is a song that I use a lot at weddings. In fact, I didn't really have a name for it until I realized how much I was playing it as a wedding march as couples came down the aisle and I got to reflecting on the rituals and ceremonies that all cultures have and decided that 'Ceremony' would be a perfect name for the piece. 'Sarah' is for a very special little girl who has continued to thrive despite the dire warnings from doctors that she wouldn't have much of a chance for survival. "

Sarafin is currently working on her second CD for release in early 2011.

Bill Leslie announces his latest CD "Simple Beauty".  The idea behind this all-instrumental album began with four Celtic melodies that he learned from the legendary Irish musician Michael O'Domhnaill.  After allowing these tunes to marinate for a while, he was inspired to compose ten of his own tunes, cut from the same Celtic cloth.  The result is this 14 track compilation that he hopes all listeners will enjoy.

This album is a celebration of the simple beauty that surrounds each of us including family, friends, pets, natural landscapes and laughter.

I hope you will check out some of his albums.  "Peaceful Journey" was his first solo release and received some wonderful reviews and a number one ranking on the world music charts.  "Christmas in Carolina" and "I Am a River" were next next and each peaked at number two on the charts. He was thrilled when "Blue Ridge Reunion" hit number one on the charts and was named Best Acoustic Instrumental Album of the Year.

The new "Simple Beauty" and all of his other music may be purchased at his website - http://www.billleslie.com - as well as on CD Baby, Amazon.com and various retail outlets.
