 Below you'll find various software packages, plugins, and how-to information to help you broadcast streaming music (or any audio) and create your own internet radio using Winamp and the Shoutcast software tools.
Keep in mind that there are a different types of internet broadcasting, so not every package will apply to what you want to do. And when you use these tools, your computer becomes a server, delivering streams to listeners. This can put a load on both CPU usage as well as bandwidth.
These software tools can be tricky to use for computer novices and even intermediates. You'll have to edit scripts, run command line programs, ping, trace routes, and scratch your head a lot. So for the beginner broadcaster we still recommend Live365 Broadcaster, and includes all the software you need to broadcast 24/7, even do live shows.
But if you want to stream to your local network, or to a couple of friends, etc. and don't want to set up a real broadcasting account, and if you like to tinker with software and hardware, enjoy Shoutcasting!
BTW, we still use Winamp & Shoutcast around the studio for various purposes, but we don't keep up on the latest greatest info on those software packages. So surf through the Winamp and Shoutcast sites, use their forums, and learn as you go. You'll probably be a better Shoutcaster than us in no time.
